The inspiration that gathers the artists present in this groupshow, all belonging to the latest generations, varies from one to the other. But they are brought together in this occasion because of their least common denominator which regards the technique they use, id est drawing. Each of the artists uses drawing as a skill, sometimes in a more traditional meaning, sometimes definitely innovating the drawing with unusual instruments, but never intending the drawing as less potential compared to their overall work.

Traditionally the drawing, at least in our visual culture, is assigned clearly to a ‘project’ dimension of the artistic creation: the draft of the work that will find its completed physiognomy through painting, sculpture or other formulations.
In contemporary art these intentions remain, but they are introduced in a different hierarchy, sometimes they are even outside any chosen hierarchy and all means are used according their linguistic particularities.

The artists presented in this exhibition  assume the drawing as raw material to link a game based on mental subtleties, on narrative gestures, on evocative images -that however not seldomly present themself in a provocative, often (auto)ironic way- with its surroundings. The drawing doesn’t herald at the ‘major’ work, often it just ‘is’. Moreover it imposes with its own reasons and communicates, even if in rather moderate dimensions, a strong sensibility that the technical skill only enhances.
